The Home Economics Education Course in the Primary and Secondary Education Major strives to enable students to acquire specialized knowledge and technical skills related to home economics education in order to cultivate elementary school teachers who can conduct practical education activities in school. We strive to develop the problem-solving skills that enable students to adapt to the various life challenges they will face by promoting an understanding of approaches, methods, and the contents of home economics education, utilizing the latest specialized knowledge in the field.

Prospective Students

• Individuals who have a strong ambition to acquire the practical educational skills needed to become a primary school teacher or a junior high school teacher, focusing on home economics.

The Home Economics Education Course features classes in six fields closely related to people's lives: Clothing, Food, Housing, Child Care, Lifestyle Management, and Home Economics Education. In addition, we offer a variety of classes, Lifestyle Survey Research Methods to acquire the necessary knowledge related to survey research, and Theories of Lifestyle Devices required for obtaining a high school teaching certificate.

In each field, we offer many experiential classes, such as Experimental Apparel Studies, Experimental Food Science, Housing Science Seminar, Child Care Studies Seminar, Lifestyle Management Seminar, and Home Economics Education Seminar. These classes cultivate practical educational skills.

In the Home Economics Education Course, students are assigned to a laboratory (seminar) in their junior year and learn specialized knowledge in each field. In their senior year, they receive guidance from their supervisor and write their bachelor's thesis. A key feature of the Home Economics Education Course is that students can broadly study many different fields because the specialized fields of our faculty members cover such a wide range of disciplines.
