Striving to develop educators with deep knowledge and skills through cooperation between kindergarten and elementary school learning.

The Department of Early Childhood Education cultivates kindergarten teachers who can understand children and possess a robust ability to express themselves, as well as strong practical skills and expertise, and a comprehensive perspective of early childhood education.
Much of the departmental coursework is focused on students' interactions with children, which occur in three steps: encountering the children, understanding the children’s development, and being involved in the children’s actual education. We emphasize creative, experiential elements of learning through direct involvement in kindergarten classrooms. Students also gain knowledge and skills pertaining to school safety and crisis management.
In their first and second years, students study on Kashiwara Campus, while in their third and fourth years they study on Tennoji Campus.

We expand knowledge through both the theoretical and practical study of development and learning from infancy to childhood, and of the systems and history of Early Childhood Education.

Foster skills to support children’s ability to express themselves independently

We cultivate first-rate skills and interest in areas like music, drama, rhythm, sculpture, and dance, fostering comprehensive skills to enable teachers to work with children and put these skills into practice according to each child’s needs.

Cultivate the fundamental attitudes and basic skills to respond to new challenges, such as multiculturalism, inclusion, and childrearing support.

We cultivate the fundamental ability to understand current leading issues, to expand student perspectives for future generations and international engagement, and to create new educational practices.
