Special Needs Education

Engaging in special needs education in special needs schools and ordinary schools

The Department of Special Needs Education cultivates teachers who will be involved in education for special needs students in both special needs schools and ordinary schools. In special needs classrooms, individuals must be deeply compassionate in a way that allows them to embrace each and every student and they must have broad expertise that enables them to deal with a variety of disorders. Our department strives to cultivate teachers who can provide practical educational support suited to the skills and personality of each child. Students also gain knowledge and skills on school safety and crisis management.

Educational Goals 1

Acquiring advanced knowledge and practical skills on children with special needs

We cultivate teachers who can grasp the needs of individual children with special needs enrolled in special needs schools, special needs classes, and children with special needs taking regular classes, and who can engage with them in ways that best meet their physical and mental health conditions. We strive to produce teachers who also embrace and provide support to their students¡¯ parents and siblings.

Educational Goals 2

Learning how to manage classes where children with and without special needs learn alongside one another

Through classes on "Fundamentals of an Inclusive Education System," "Universal Design Class Theory," and "Theories on Education for Understanding Special Needs," we cultivate elementary school teachers who can develop classes in which anyone can participate, including students with developmental disabilities, and who can create classes in which anyone can be a key participant.

Educational Goals 3

Improving practical skills in special needs education under the guidance of faculty members with robust expertise

Students can study educational theories, teaching techniques, psychology, physiology, and pathology associated with different disabilities.
