JICA Trainee Acceptance Program – Course held as area specific training for FY2013 "Improving Science Classes in English-Speaking Sub-Saharan Africa"

The FY2013 area specific training ""Improving Science Classes in English-Speaking Sub-Saharan Africa"" of the JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency) Trainee Acceptance Program was held from Sept. 19 to Oct. 11.
This program is held as part of our international contribution, and this year there were 19 participants including specialists, officers, and deputy officers from the national education organizations in six English-speaking countries of Africa (Ethiopia, Kenya, Malawi, Nigeria, Swaziland, and Zambia).
In this training, the participants attended not only university lectures, but also classes at elementary,
junior, and senior high schools, and observed boards of education and education centers. During their Hiroshima training trip, they visited the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum, and this provided an opportunity to ponder the topic of peace education in greater depth.
At the end of the program, all of the trainees wrote their own class plans and conducted simulated classes based on the results of their training.
At the closing ceremony, a representative of the trainees described their impressions of the training,
enthusiasm for the future, and appreciation toward the university and JICA.
